Long time no see!

Hi folks,

I am here with my new blog post. I haven’t blogged in 3 weeks I guess. I took this looong break right after telling that i am going to blog once every week.

Off to a great start, huh?

I cannot say that I didn’t blog at all in these 3 weeks. I wrote a blog post for Frontcube, where I work.
Here is my post if you wanna check it out or to make sure that I didn’t lie.

Done is better than perfect

As usual. I’ve got nothing to talk about. But, I’ve been thinking a lot about purchasing a domain for my blogs. But, I am still not sure about that idea. Hey, Don’t judge me. I am what I am.

After buying the love of my life, I started experimenting a lot with long exposure photographs. Because, I have this wallpaper on my iphone 4s. It is the milkyway. It itches me to take some photos of the milkyway. But, How to capture the milkyway? you can barely see it. I tried some random shots at the skies too. It is too cloudy. It frequently rains in the western parts of the Sri Lanka these days because of the monsoons. I was a bit upset with it.

Then, came the Parlimentary elections of Sri Lanka. I went to my hometown Trincomalee which is in the eastern part of our small country. It has clear skies these days. So, I tried to have my intended photoshoot in Trincomalee (Thank god I took the Tripod). The road lights don’t work in our road. (Believe me, I am in the city.) So, I had a great view of the milkyway. It was a little blurry because I broke my eyewear earlier that week. But, with the help of my equally short sighted sister, I took some photos that i liked very much. The photos are a bit under-exposed to be true.

this is not a fairytale ending to my quest. I should get a good looking photo of the milkyway. I was disappointed. It all vanished when I came to Thihariya, Gampaha – Where I am boarded. The sky was crystal clear that night. I took some good looking photos with my 70D. Here are two photos I liked the most.

Photography is like Relationship

Blogging after a long time.

Note to self :- “I should document more. It could help someone or even the future me. So, From here onwards, I will blog every week (at least)”

Now, about the heading of this blog post. I am planning to buy a DSLR Camera this weekend. Got the sponsorship from my sister. Actually it is kind of a loan. anyhow, the thing is, people around me have a good about my craze on DSLR and Photography. But, once I got the money, I am now a bit scared to make the leap – which is buying the camera. I cannot sleep at night, I cannot watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S peacefully, And I have to do something productive to keep my mind off it. It is very hard for me because, believe me. I am a lazy bastard.

So, I talked about this with Aslam Najeebdeen – CEO and Visionary of Frontcube (pvt) ltd. He laughed. Then he added a great simile to the conversation. So, What i said to him was, “I am scared to buy a DSLR camera now because, I took photos using a lot of different models, But after this, I have to only use this one. So, I am thinking whether I should get this model or not”. You might’ve guessed what he would’ve said.

It is like the mindset of a playboy who is getting married

True that.

Then I realized, it is like a relationship. ‘How?’ you might ask. Here’s how. My budget is 200,000. I could get a 6D with a kid lens if I add some more from my pocket. But, my range will be small. I cannot afford another lens because it is too expensive. So, I have to live with what I have.

In relationship, Think that you reached for someone way out of your league. It is true that you will have some great perks. But, it has its downsides. I am not going to explain. Because, everyone can relate to this.

But, if you bond with someone in your own league. It will be a great relationship. That too has its own perks. And the main thing is, There will be no Ego and Arrogance.

Hey, I am not a relationship expert. But, I think I am doing okay in my personal life. So, stop judging me.

Going to buy a Canon 70D with the kit lens, another 50mm lens and some other accessories. Hoping to post more often and you all can expect some photos taken by me in the posts. It will be watermark free. So, do whatever you want with them if you think they are useful.

Credit me if you can. It will be a great gesture. 😉 😀

Prototypes and mindsets

First of all. This is a mobile blog. I am doing this from the 4th floor of my friends’ apartment. It is actually the top of the building and the view is great. Suddenly, i started thinking about a small incident that happened today. I wanted to talk about it with someone. So, here it goes…..

I always try to be non judgmental. But, it always keeps coming back to me. I think I should practice it more often. Because, after accidentally judging someone because of their face and activities, I feel like shit when I get to know that i am wrong. I felt like this today after a long time.

I was coming to my friend’s apartment. (I usually stay there when I come to Colombo.). I took a tuk tuk from Dehiwala. The guy who was driving it had a big beard. I was in an entertainy mood that time. So, I started making small talk. I asked him a prototype question which I regret up-to now.

“Ayyalata heta ramzan neda?”

Guess what? He was a Buddhist. He was a little upset about my question. I am not here to argue why he got upset. But, look at that idiot who was in the backseat. He thought that everyone with a long beard is a Muslim.

That is what prototypes are. We shouldn’t set a prototype to people. We should see everyone with a uniqueness. Forgive me tuk tuk guy, I wont judge people by their looks. It is rude to do so. Thank god it is not a Muslim guy. I wouldn’t have learned my lesson. Don’t judge people. especially don’t judge someone based on their looks.

Reading – Rekindled

Hi guys! I recently read somewhere that one should have his own blog. Then, I was like seriously? why should I? Then it hit me. I always search for blogs. I always read blogs. I always get answers for my questions from the blogs. So, I thought of starting my own blog. Having a blog will actually improve your portfolio. Because, it is like reading a book these days. It is very rare to be seen.

I was a frequent reader when I was a kid. Then, that good habit kind of slipped away. Then, after joining frontcube I started reading again because in here, it is mandatory for the employees to read. Here we even have our own syllabus for reading. It may sound ridiculous. But, believe me. It is working out well for me. The books we are mainly about our personal development. And, They are very basic books. A guy without much knowledge in English can read it. But, there is a catch. You have to talk about a chapter in your book every Wednesday. We have an hour allocated for that. That is called leadership Wednesday. So, We really have to read the book if we don’t to make fools out of ourselves.

The good thing about leadership Wednesday is that it will build your public speaking and leadership skills. I was afraid to talk in English because, I thought someone(eg:- My mom) will point out the grammar mistakes and everything. But, after some sessions in LWs, I built back my confidence. And, I don’t care about my mistakes anymore. Because, we do mistakes even when we talk in our native language. I don’t want to improve only myself. So, I am gonna go ahead and give the titles of the books that I have read after joining Frontcube. In the order I have read them.

  1.  Rework: Change the Way You Work Forever
  2.  Who moved my cheese
  3.  The greatness guide – (I am currently reading)

The first book is mainly about your business and how you should work on it. It is kind of a Radical book that breaks all the norms of a business world. If you have your own business, starting your own company or even trying to build something related to business, it is for you.

The second book is for everyone. That’s it. Whoever you are, you should read it. It is not a revolutionary book. But, it is a story that will make you think and prepare for the changes in your life.

The third book is like reading from the chapters of your life. Every chapter will remind you something that happened in your own life. Although I am still reading that book, I have a good feeling about this book that it will change me somehow.

I am waiting for you guys to suggest me some books too. If you have anything, Drop it on comments. Cheers.
